Flavour, the driving force behind both HackShield and the HeroCenter, has been boosted by a funding round in which they attracted investments from both Northwave Cyber Security and the ROM Utrecht Region. Flavour enables play-based learning, change and activation through Applied Gaming and Storytelling. This investment enables Flavour to further accelerate their mission of digital security and empowerment.

The Utrecht-based company uses a unique method: Hero Centered Design. End users are approached as potential heroes, in order to change behaviour and create a positive impact on society. Together with its partners, Flavour creates playful and efficient solutions that create a better world.

Led by founders Tim Murck, Emily Jacometti and Jaïn van Nigtevegt, Flavour reflects their commitment to creating a safer digital world in programmes such as HackShield and the HeroCentre, which help children, (grand)parents and organisations become aware of cyber threats and provide them with the necessary tools to protect themselves and others.

The investment by Northwave Cyber Security and the ROM Utrecht Region marks an important milestone for Flavour. By continuing to develop and expand innovative technologies and educational initiatives, Flavour remains at the forefront of fighting online risks and promoting digital skills worldwide.

‘At the heart of our mission is making a positive impact on our society,’ said Steven Dondorp, CEO Northwave Cyber Security. ‘We make that contribution by making and keeping medium-sized and large organisations digitally resilient. In doing so, our business philosophy has not only the commercial, but also the broader societal perspective where it goes well together. With our investment in Flavour, we are specifically investing in the further growth of Hackshield, because we think it is important that children learn to deal with the positives and negatives of digitalisation. This is why we always take Hackshield into the countries to which we are expanding our business. A great example is the recent launch of Hackshield in Scandinavia, in collaboration with the Safer Sweden Foundation.’
