Trends in Security Information
The HSD Trendmonitor is designed to provide access to relevant content on various subjects in the safety and security domain, to identify relevant developments and to connect knowledge and organisations. The safety and security domain encompasses a vast number of subjects. Four relevant taxonomies (type of threat or opportunity, victim, source of threat and domain of application) have been constructed in order to visualize all of these subjects. The taxonomies and related category descriptions have been carefully composed according to other taxonomies, European and international standards and our own expertise.
In order to identify safety and security related trends, relevant reports and HSD news articles are continuously scanned, analysed and classified by hand according to the four taxonomies. This results in a wide array of observations, which we call ‘Trend Snippets’. Multiple Trend Snippets combined can provide insights into safety and security trends. The size of the circles shows the relative weight of the topic, the filters can be used to further select the most relevant content for you. An integral assessment of chains of collaborating organizations is increasingly important
Information security is only as strong as the weakest link in an ecosystem and cybercriminals know it. An integral assessment is therefore necessary. Not only within an organization but also within the chains of collaborating organizations and suppliers. An integral assessment of the chains in particular is becoming increasingly important. On the one hand, this is due to the increasing tendency towards collaboration to solve complex issues in the healthcare and financial sector and, on the other hand, due to the fact that there are (large) differences between the organizations in terms of policy, approach, risk management and support for security in a chain. And that introduces risks and vulnerabilities precisely at the interfaces.

Ketensamenwerking en zwakste schakel
Het gevaar van een allesomvattende benadering van organisatie, mensen, processen en technologie is dat u, vanwege tijd en geld, neigt naar een beperkt of oppervlakkig onderzoek. Dat doet afbreuk aan de resultaten van het onderzoek. U bent daarmee nooit verzekerd van een volledig overzicht van de risico’s, dreigingen en zwakste schakels. Informatiebeveiliging is echter zo sterk als de zwakste schakel in een ecosysteem en dat weten cybercriminelen! Een integrale toetsing is daarom noodzakelijk. Niet alleen binnen een organisatie maar ook binnen de ketens van samenwerkende organisaties en leveranciers. Vooral een integrale toetsing van de ketens wordt steeds belangrijk. Dit enerzijds vanwege de toenemende tendens tot samenwerking om complexe vraagstukken in de zorg en financiële sector op te lossen en anderzijds vanwege het feit dat er (grote) verschillen zijn tussen de organisaties qua beleid, aanpak, risicomanagement en draagvlak rond de beveiliging in een keten. En dat introduceert juist op de koppelvlakken risico’s en kwetsbaarheden.
