Elastic Joins HSD as New Premium Partner!
Elastic recently joined Security Delta (HSD) as a premium partner! The Dutch founded Search AI company integrates its expertise in search technology with artificial intelligence to help everyone transform data into answers, actions, and outcomes. Elastic is open by design, built for performance, wired for innovation and backed by a thriving developer community. Elastic’s Search AI powered security solution provides end-to-end visibility across the entire attack surface, and enables SOC analysts to detect, investigate, and respond to threats in one solution that unifies SIEM, XDR, and cloud security.
Elastic is the Search AI company. Originally known as Elasticsearch, the name of its core technology and platform, the company was founded in 2012 in Amsterdam by Shay Banon, Steven Schuurman, Uri Boness, and Simon Willnauer. The concept began in 2004 when founder Shay Banon was building recipe search software for his wife. He developed Elasticsearch in 2009, nurturing it with a thriving open-source community for three years before the official company formation. The company later rebranded to Elastic to reflect its broadening portfolio beyond just search, encompassing solutions for observability and security.
At Elastic, the core principle, and truly the foundation of the company, is open source, meaning that a community of developers can actively contribute to the evolution of the Elasticsearch platform. This collaborative model remains central to everything Elastic does. The company originally started as a search engine for enterprise data, but over time, the community unleashed new possibilities. Developers realised that search technology could also be highly effective for log management since logs, whether from systems or applications, are essentially data that can be searched and analysed. This insight, driven by the community and later supported by Elastic engineers, led to the development of a log management product.
From there, the focus expanded to observability, creating a solution that provides unified visibility across the IT ecosystem, delivers actionable insights, and automation capabilities that SREs need to minimize downtime, optimize performance, and resolve incidents faster. As observability data often overlaps with security data, the next natural step was to develop a security solution. This collaboration resulted in the creation of Elastic’s SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) and Endpoint Security products. Today, Elastic continues to innovate across these three key pillars: Search, Observability and Security. All built upon the same open source foundation that has driven their success from the very beginning.
Involved in the HSD community
Elastic first came in contact with HSD through their network within the public sector in the Netherlands. With open source philosophy being a key driving force for Elastic, they strongly believe in collaboration and in the idea that innovation should not happen behind closed doors, but rather in an open and cooperative environment. This belief naturally connects Elastic with HSD, as there is a shared commitment to building and strengthening ecosystems.
Sharing knowledge, working together, and empowering one another are values deeply rooted in the way Elastic makes business, manages the relationship with its customers and contributes to society.
Jeroen Berckenkamp - "Becoming a HSD premium partner was a natural decision for us. We highly value collaboration across public and private sectors, and we see HSD as an ideal platform to foster a collaborative security community in the Netherlands. As a Dutch founded company, we feel a sense of responsibility and pride in contributing to the national and international cybersecurity ecosystem that HSD represents."
Transparency
Knowledge sharing is one of Elastic’s core values. As an example, their code is openly available online for anyone to access and build upon. That openness reflects their commitment to collaboration and collective progress.
In addition, the company operates a dedicated Security Lab, a team focused entirely on identifying and analysing both current and emerging cyber threats, while also providing guidance on how these threats can best be mitigated. They regularly publish their findings in the Global Threat Report, which is publicly accessible and offers an overview of the key threats observed across the cybersecurity landscape. Elastic sees it as a responsibility to share insights and expertise with the wider community, helping to strengthen cybersecurity resilience around the world.
Challenges
One of the biggest challenges many organisations face today is the sheer explosion of data. Studies show that around 68% of organisational data remains underutilized, which not only represents a missed opportunity, but also poses significant cybersecurity risks. Unused or unseen data can create blind spots; areas where potential threats go undetected simply because there is no visibility.
At Elastic, they are almost obsessive about helping organisations ingest and make sense of as much data as possible. By ensuring real-time access, visibility, and rapid, relevant analysis, they help their customers eliminate blind spots and strengthen their overall security posture. For Elastic, the ability to process and act on data quickly and intelligently is absolutely essential.
Collaboration
Collaboration is central to how Elastic operates, both in the public and private sectors. One of their key partners in the Netherlands is KPN, and this partnership has become increasingly important against the backdrop of global geopolitical developments. A great example of effective collaboration was Elastic’s participation in the 24-hours challenge organised by the Dutch Ministry of Defence earlier this year. This initiative brought together Defence and its suppliers to jointly develop a virtual control room; a software-driven platform enabling Defence to assess national threat levels in real time. It was a powerful demonstration of how collaboration, rather than competition, can lead to meaningful and practical innovation within just a few hours.
Beyond defence and critical infrastructure, Elastic sees strong potential for collaboration in education. Together with their partners and leading Dutch companies, they aim to explore how they can help improve university and higher education curricula, ensuring that students gain the most relevant and up-to-date skills for the future of cybersecurity and data technology. Whether in national security or education, they believe the best results come from working together towards a clear and tangible goal.
