Several CISO-sessions took place last week on the HSD Campus. 19 and 20 September saw CISOs from a range of organisations gather to talk about their responsibilities and role as CISO. The goal of these sessions is to provide a platform to share knowledge during cross-sectorial intervision groups led by moderator Peter Zinn.

The topics discussed among the participating groups varied, but they did share a common thread: to inspire and challenge CISOs across a variety of sectors. Each CISO intervision session is structured around a theme, with presentations and discussion statements, interspersed by lively discussions on the topics at hand. The number of participants of each session is limited, to ensure an interactive experience for all involved.

The main topic of discussion for the first group was which parts of security to take care of internally, and which parts could potentially be outsourced. Invited as guest speaker was Reza Rafati from Group-IB, one of HSD's partners that specialises in counteracting cyberattacks and eliminating fraud.

The second group spoke about how to defend yourself and your organisation against insider threats, such as disgruntled (ex-)employees or partners with ill intentions and access to the network. Guest speakers Vincent van Biervliet and Hakan Vurel came from Wallix, a partner that provides software cybersecurity solutions that can detect and respond to incoming cyberattacks.

Both sessions led to long conversations and engaging discussions between involved CISOs with lots of opportunity for social interaction afterwards. The interesting anecdotes shared by participants were a highlight for all involved.
