Christel Mourik and Jan Willems Mijnans, members of the municipal executive of Nissewaard, signed an agreement on May 31 in collaboration with Peter de Bruijn (Stichting/Foundation Studio Veiligheid) to create a fieldlab titled Smart, Safe & Resilient Mainports. This fieldlab will function as a marketplace for the development of new products and services focused on the intersection between safety and economy. Smart, Safe & Resilient Mainports is financed by Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag (MRDH). The activities and projects which are being financed by cooperating companies are expected to draw attention and create employment. By stimulating development through test and marketplace fascilities MRDH strengthens the economic and business climate of the area. Goal of the fieldlab is to enhance the market positioning of innovative products and services as well as increasing economic efficiency of the safe mainports like the Rotterdam harbour and surroundings. The municipality of Voorne-Putten contributes by offering a location for the fieldlab where innovations to keep the harbour area safe and clean can be tested. The fieldlab focuses on connecting innovative market players with investors who, together, can develop powerful products and services with international potential. This project gives new companies and innovative scale-ups and start-ups the chance to further develop and establish their companies in Voorne-Putten.
