The Hague cyber security capital of Europe
The Hague is a logical venue for a conference about privacy and cyber security. In 2014, the city hosted the Global Conference on Cyber Security. Many telecom and ICT businesses, as well as The Hague Security Delta (HSD), the biggest security cluster in Europe, are based in The Hague. Within this national security cluster, businesses, government organisations and knowledge institutions work together on innovations in the field of security. Partnership is the key to success here. In and around The Hague alone, 400 companies generate over 25% of the national turnover in security and offer employment to 13,400 people. The Hague is also home to the cyber security departments of Europol and NATO, the Ministries of Defence and Security & Justice and the Cyber Security Academy.
The Netherlands is known as the ‘digital gateway to Europe' and as such is an attractive base for international organisations and head offices, in turn creating new jobs. However, it is vital that the networks are secure. The city of The Hague and The Hague Security Delta work together to ensure this is the case.I

International city of Peace and Justice

In recent years, the security cluster in The Hague has developed rapidly using the knowledge available here in the field of Peace and Justice. 240 international organisations are based in The Hague, including the International Criminal Court and UN organs like the International Court of Justice and OPCW. 37,500 people derive employment from the international city of The Hague, generating 5.2 billion euros every year for the region of The Hague.
