Certified Cyber Security (CSX) Practitioner – why?
The CSX Practitioner certification is the first vendor-neutral cyber security certification based on the testing and validation of actual technical skills, ability and performance. Whereas other certifications available today test for knowledge in a question and answer structure, the CSX Practitioner training and exams are concluded in a live, virtual cyber lab environment and test whether or not you have the skills and technical savvy to do the job.

Certified Cyber Security (CSX) Practitioner – what will you learn?
In this Certified Cyber Security (CSX) Practitioner training you will be introduced to key cyber security skills, prove your ability to implement cyber security controls and learn how to perform vulnerability scans. You will develop practical cyber security skills by hands-on lab exercises in a virtual cyber environment. You will also learn how to respond and recover from crippling network incidents or disasters. Moreover, you will learn about network evaluation, vulnerability analysis, malware and incident detection, incident reporting, and safeguard implementation.

As a Certified Cyber Security (CSX) Practitioner you can demonstrate your ability to serve as a first responder, following established procedures, defined processes and working mostly with regular problems on a single system. You will show you have firewall, patching, and anti-virus experience and can implement common security controls, perform vulnerability scans, and some analysis.

About the Cyber Security (CSX) certification path
To help address the global cyber security skills crisis head on, ISACA has created Cyber Security Nexus™ (CSX), a certification path for the cyber security professional. The Cyber Security (CSX) certification path starts with the knowledge-based Cyber Security Fundamentals certificate for those who are new to the profession or are looking to change careers, and centres the performance-based certifications as the CSX Practitioner, CSX Specialist and CSX Expert level.

The Cyber Security (CSX) Practitioner certification will test your ability to perform tasks within the following cyber security areas in varying degrees of complexity:
- Identification of threats and vulnerabilities (Identify track) - You will learn to develop the organizational understanding to manage cyber security risk to systems, assets, data, and capabilities. You will also learn how to focus and prioritize your organization's efforts, consistent with IT risk management standards. The Identify track explains asset management, business environment, governance, risk assessment, and risk management strategies.
- Protection of systems from outside threat (Protect track) - You will learn to implement the appropriate safeguards to ensure delivery of critical infrastructure services. The Protect track teaches access control, awareness and training, data security, information protection, processes and procedures, maintenance, and protective technology.
- Detection of threats and system vulnerabilities (Detect track) - You will learn to discover (potential) cyber security events quickly and effectively. The Detect track focuses on anomalies and events, security, continuous monitoring, and detection processes.
- Response to and mitigation of cyber incidents (Respond track) - You will learn to accurately execute and assess the correct actions to manage a security event. The Respond track covers response planning, communications, analysis, mitigation, and improvements.
- Recovery from incidents and disasters (Recover track) - You will learn to develop plans for resilience and to restore any capabilities or services that were impaired due to a cyber security event. You will also learn to initiate timely recovery to normal operations to reduce operational impact. The Recover track examines recovery planning, improvements, and communications.
